Insurance Update

 In 2004 the Florida Legislature passed dramatic changes to the Florida Condominium Act. The "condo doc's" no longer dictate the insuring responsibilities for the Association and the unit-owner. This applies to all condominiums across the State of Florida.

The law provides that unit-owners must insure the following:

• Floor, wall and ceiling coverings

• Electrical Fixtures

• Appliances

• Air conditioning and heating equipment

• water heaters and water filters

• built in cabinets and countertops

• window treatments (drapes/blinds etc.)

• air compressors that service one unit no matter where they are located
